Ideally, the length of hanging fabric should be about 30 cm. Too short tablecloth looks ugly, but too long - interferes with sitting.
After you are stuck to the tablecloth, it's time to arrange plates - they are placed opposite each chair at a distance of two folded fingers (index and medium) from the edge of the table. For particularly solemn events, the first cases put table plates, and directly on them - snack bars.
Between the plates sometimes there are a fabric or paper napkin - it is necessary that the upper plate "did not go" there and here.
To the left of the dining plate, place a small piring approximately at a distance of 10 cm. Typically, it is a plate with a diameter of about 18 cm, which is used to supply bread, buns or croutin.
Usually with them the greatest confusion and the rope, especially if a meal from a large number of dishes is supposed. So, to the right and the table knife is located to the plate, then fish, and then the snack bar. The blades of knives must be facing strictly towards the plate. If the menu is planned soup, then between the diner and fish knives are pushed down with a handle down.
It is curious that in some sources it is indicated that the spoons should always be located to the right of the knives - thus the opinions were divided. To the left of the plate are placed forks - dining room, fish, and then diner, their teeth should look up.
Dessert devices put on top over a plate: first the plug, then a spoon, and then everything is a knife. Handles of the knife and spoons are looking to the right, and the plugs are left. The distance between the devices should be at least 5 mm.
It is located above the center of the plate or the right of it, ideally - on the line intersection of the upper edge of the dishes with the end of the near knife. A glass of water or juice is placed here, a glass or a glass of alcoholic beverage is placed on the right of the glass. Keep in mind that a few days before the event you need to solve all organizational issues and prepare:
- Decide on the number of persons, draw up the menu, put the tablecloth, check the quantity and quality of napkins, dishes, devices, think over the decor.
On the day of reception, wipe all the dishes and the devices are completely, and then proceed to cover the table.
Step 1. First you need a tablecloth
Here the main thing is to make sure that the rods of the tablecloth is no longer and no less than 20-30 cm. Sveom in short will look ugly, but longer - uncomfortable for sitting at the table.
As for the color, you can choose either a win-win and traditional white tablecloth, or to lay any option that has enjoyed, add it tracks and venters as shown in the photo.

Step 2. Unlock plates

- According to the canon, the type of deep plate depends on the type of soup. For thick, choose a wide (photo on the left), for light broth or cream soup - a pile with handles or without them (photo on the right). But this is exactly the rule that can be neglected.
As for the placement of the plates, it put snack bars or deep plates, dessert and / or salad plates put on the left as shown in the picture on the right. In this place there can also be a tea couple, a piring plate or, for example, a glance for eggs on the occasion of Easter. - Plates need to be put at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from the edge of the table and at the same distance from each other;
- So that the snack plate does not slide on the coaching, it is necessary to put a paper or textile napkin between them as shown in the photo below.
Step 3. Put the cutlery
Now proceed with the layout of the devices. They are put on the sides of the number of changes dishes (concave side to the table):
- To the right of the plates are placed knives and spoons;
- Left - forks;
- From above, you can put a teaspoon.
Festive serving at home does not require a large number of special knives, forks and spoons. Most often there is enough one knife, one fork and a pair of spoons (for soup and dessert).
